SOLUTIONS for Destabilized Communities
To help stabilize communities devastated by the the foreclosure
crisis, we created a comprehensive program to buy, renovate, green,
and sell foreclosed homes to working families at affordable prices.
We worked in 12 East Bay cities designated by the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development (HUD ) as having the highest rates of
foreclosure, to turn vacant houses into beacons of hope for struggling
communities.

Our renovated homes were sold to people committed to living
there as their primary residence, not to investors. Downpayment
and closing cost assistance, combined with our quality improvements
and contemporary style, made our homes a great opportunity for low
and moderate-income buyers. To date, Hello Housing has purchased
and renovated 55 homes. Hello Housing’s remaining HUD dollars are
being used to turn Caltrans-owned property into affordable housing for
people with physical disabilities choosing to return to their community
after long stays in institutional settings.

Healthy, safe and affordable homes
Thanks to the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, we took care of years of deferred maintenance, code violations, and offered homes that made sense for a modern family.
