Income Qualification

The City of Newarks Down Payment Assistance Loan provides tiered assistance based on the Area Median Income (AMI). 
 

• If your AMI, based on household size, is 80% of AMI or less, you may be eligible for up to $200,000 in assistance.

• If you AMI, based on household size, is greater than 80% but less than 120% of AMI, you may be eligible for up to $150,000 in assistance.

Calculating total Household Income is key to determining whether an Applicant's income eligible for a down payment assistance loan. Total household income consists of all sources of income of ALL household members aged 18 or older who will occupy the property, regardless of dependency or ownership status.
