Down Payment Assistance Program

"First Home Emeryville" the City of Emeryville's down payment assistance program for first-time homebuyers, provides down payment and closing cost assistance to eligible first-time homebuyers in purchasing a home within the city limits of Emeryville.

The program provides eligible homebuyers with a loan for up to $200,000 depending on the households income and other factors

Down payment assistance is available to qualified first-time homebuyers purchasing units at the 45th Street Artist Co-op in Emeryville on a first-come, first-approved basis until program funds are fully expended.

All other applicants who participated in the 2024 lottery and are interested in purchasing a home elsewhere in Emeryville (excluding the Artist Co-op) will continue to be invited to Application Workshops in batches until funds are expended.

Online Pre-Application

The pre-application period is closed.

Applicants who submitted a Pre-Application by the due date and were deemed eligible to proceed with the application process were issued a lottery number by email which was utilized to enter the application lottery.

Application Lottery
October 10th, 2024
COMPLETED

On October 10th, 2024, an application lottery was conducted which established a ranking order in which applicants will be invited to submit a Program Application.

The Program Application requires more detailed household information and supporting documentation for each household member.

*Placement on the Application Lottery ranking order list does not mean approval of a funding reservation. It simply allows for a fair and transparent process for selecting households to move forward with the application process.

Application Workshop &
Full Application
ON-GOING

Following the lottery, top-ranking households will be invited in batches to a attend mandatory application workshop where households will learn important information about the program and how to submit a Program Application.

Following the workshop, attendee's will receive a link to an online Program Application.

Program Applications will be underwritten on a first complete, first served basis as long as funds are available.

Conditional Approval

Once a full application is approved by the City, you will receive a conditional approval and funds will be reserved for you so that you can start to shop for a home. You will have four months from the date of approval to shop for a home that meets your goals.

Final Approval & Loan Closing

Once you are in contract to purchase a home, Hello Housing's team will work with you and your mortgage lender to complete the final loan approval process and help to navigate you through the home closing process.
